I've never noticed this 'till just now but the way that I am is different from the typical American. I've lived in United States for most of my life but I still find myself not feeling like I fit in. I always take notice just how different I am from my classmates that were born here- like when they talk about TV shows, American football and other American things. I barely watch TV shows, and the ones that I do watch aren't those popular ones, so I usually keep to myself when my classmates are talking about TV. The only sport I watch is football (the real one), so again I'd keep to myself when my classmates are talking. I've never understood the naming of American football because they don't use their feet to kick the ball. American football is just paja*. It is because of this that I find myself having trouble to relate to my classmates that aren't Hispanic. Most of the things that I know about are Spanish things so my friends, for the most part, are of Hispanic descent.
I like being different though, I'm not that kind of person to change myself just to fit in with my classmates. My classmates probably think I'm weird for not talking much though, lol. Oh well, I'd much rather be true to myself.
paja*- is a Salvadorean word meaning lie.
